Boseong Gun
'Taebaek Mountain Range' is a novel with a setting of Beolgyo port in the late autumn of 1948 during the Lushun incident. The story begins from the ancestral rites house of the Hyun's family at the foot of Jeseoksan Mountain and ruminates over the painful past of the Korean race until late autumn of 1953 when the punitive expedition of the North Korean partisans ended. Architect, Kim Won discovered through 'Taebaek Mountain Range' the modern history of Korea that had been hidden behind the darkness, and visualized the Literature Museum that looks like it had taken a step back in a natural and suppressed architectural style based on the idea of attracting caves and exorcism into the building.
For this reason, the Literature Museum is located 10m underground, and the mural of Illang Lee Jong-sang in the exhibition hall stretches to a height of 8m and a width of 81m. Also, the 'Period of Burying National History' from independence to national division past the Korean War, was reflected to the exhibition hall on the floating second floor. Go up to the rooftop past the tunnel of darkness, and a glass tower with 18m height stands symbolizing the hopes for new history.
Exhibition halls are under different themes on each floor. On the first floor, zones 1 to 3 are available. Zone 1 exhibits the author's motivation for writing under the theme 'Writer is the oxygen of the time. Story of 4-year research and 6-year writing'. Zone 2 exhibits 'Beolgyo as the stage of the novel, campfire of deep sorrow / flame of the people / national division and war, 16,500 sheets of handwritten manuscript, unwinding the knots of deep sorrow and awareness'. Zone 3 conveys the story about 'opening the horizon of literature about division, benefiting quarrels and disputes, Taebaek Mountain Range movie and Taebaek Mountain Range as a global novel'.
On the second floor are Zones 4 to 6. Zone 4 exhibits 'Cho Jung-rae, a writer with handwritten spirit, life and literature of a writer, world of literature of Cho Jung-rae, life and literature of a writer and our novel Taebaek Mountain Range'. And Zone 5 accommodates 'Literature Guest Room' where you can read various books about art in a cozy atmosphere and Zone 6 holds the 'handwritten manuscript exhibition hall'.
